2026 has already been an exciting year for Move Me Dance Theatre and Denmark Dance Collective.
In March, The Potato Eaters premiered at Denmark Arts’ Brave New Works festival. Created with a multigenerational cast of dancers, singers, children and live musicians, the performance brought the world of Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting to life through dance, music and storytelling.
I also had the opportunity to attend both APAM and CircuitWest in Perth this year, meeting artists, presenters and producers and learning more about opportunities for regional performance and touring.
This our 4th year going in Denmark and we’ve taken our first two shows ‘One Day at a Time’ and ‘INVICTA’ to many festivals and stages. We are now developing plans to tour The Potato Eaters to regional communities in 2027. The touring version will bring a small team of dancers and musicians into each community to work with local participants and create a new performance together.
At the same time, we are busy creating Red Ashes, a new dance and music work for Wild Village Festival this November. It is wonderful to see the work continuing to grow—from our local community in Denmark towards new audiences, collaborations and places. Our open class is on in term 3 almost every Friday 9.30 am, check The Denmark Dance Collective on FB for updates.
