About me

Hi, Im Inge

Originally and always a dance professional at heart, I work across contemporary and world dance, performance, and education.

My work today brings together decades of worldwide training, performance, and teaching—now expressed through community-driven dance theatre projects in Western Australia.

I trained at Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, graduating in contemporary dance.  At graduation, I received scholarships that took me to West Africa, where I trained with the National Dance Company of Ghana, the University of Fine Arts in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), and Ballet National Djoliba in Conakry (Guinea). This then expanded to more professional development in New York, Conakry and Amsterdam

At my final study year, I started lecturing West African dance with live percussion at Codarts, and I continued teaching and choreographing there until my move to Australia 12 years later.

I always ran my independent amateur dance classes, was involved in community projects,  delivered professional development for dance teachers and facilitated training and selection in dance education programs. For my work, I collaborated daily with musicians which is something I’m still very passionate about.

Alongside teaching, I performed in theatres across The Netherlands with contemporary dance companies for young audiences. With African and Latin dance ensembles and live music groups, I performed at the many festivals and dance conferences in Europa and America. This lead me to develop a versatile performance practice across styles and cultures.

After moving to Australia, I taught specialist dance workshops at various schools and at UWA, and I created shows for theatre performances and competing world dance duo’s.

I expanded my practice through a Master of Education, focusing on Health, Exercise Science, and Sport Psychology. This led to presentations on mental wellbeing, movement, play, and cultural perspectives for both adults and young people across Western Australia.

Now based in Denmark WA, I lead the Denmark Dance Collective and choreograph the works. From June ’26 we’ll expand our dance activities with ‘Move Me dance Theatre’ in Fremantle.

My current works bring women together—many new to dance—into experiencing powerful performances. What begins as a local, grassroots process evolves into fully realised productions presented in theatre and festival contexts.

Recent works include One Day at a Time, and our current touring productions INVICTA and The Potato Eaters. These works resonate strongly with audiences through themes of connection, vulnerability, strength, and shared experience.

My work continues to bridge professional practice and community engagement, creating dance theatre that is both artistically driven and deeply human.
