The Potato Eaters

Inge Van Winkel Smiling

“Peasant life is the real thing.”
— Vincent van Gogh, 1885

What stories live inside a painting?

Inspired by The Potato Eaters by Vincent van Gogh, this dance theatre & music performance from local artists, brings stories of this iconic image to life through dance, song and live music.

Come and journey with us to a time where a small community of people greet the day together, work the land, ask for sun and rain, and share the rhythms of life side by side. With humour, warmth and a touch of Dutch potatoes, this multi-generational performance invites audiences of all ages to step into a living painting.

Playful and heartfelt, The Potato Eaters

celebrates our community, resilience and the timeless human stories that connect us, across generations and cultures. More than a century later, the world looks different, yet some questions remain the same.

INVICTA

Inge Van Winkel Smiling

Raw. Mesmerising. Unstoppable.

From the echoes of old Europe—where knowledge was feared, and women were silenced—to the awakening of awakened empowerment, this dance performance blends contemporary and world dance into a visceral, moving tapestry of loss, rebirth, and true freedom.

This is the dance of the ones who remain INVICTA.
